If you haven’t heard of Ecce Shnak<\/strong> yet, buckle up \u2014 because this New York City art-rock collective is about to have a moment<\/em>, and honestly, it’s long overdue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The genre-defying five-piece just dropped a wild new video for\u00a0Katy’s Wart<\/em><\/strong>, announced a string of UK tour dates opening for\u00a0EMF<\/strong>\u00a0this June, and have a full-length album \u2014\u00a0‘Dandy Variances’\u00a0\u2014 locked and loaded for later this year on Records Man, Records. There’s a lot happening in the Shnak universe right now, and all of it is worth your attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purple Goddesses, Cosmic Justice & Titmouse Productions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start with the video, because wow<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katy’s Wart \u2014 a hidden gem originally buried in their 2019 album\u00a0‘Joke Oso’\u00a0\u2014 has been resurrected and given the cinematic treatment it always deserved. The result? A surreal animated tale of a well-dressed maniac who picks the wrong fight with the wrong twin sisters, and ultimately gets served a plate of instant karma by\u00a0five purple goddesses of righteous vengeance<\/strong>. As you do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are actually two versions to dive into: a punchy three-minute Animated Music Feelm Version<\/strong> and a sprawling ten-minute Extended Feelm Version<\/strong> that builds the backstory with real dramatic weight. The animation \u2014 crafted by the legendary Titmouse Productions<\/strong> (yes, those<\/em> Titmouse) \u2014 is genuinely stunning, and the whole thing was brought to life by the creative trio of Hollye Bynum, Sam Owens, and David Roush<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a blistering, surreal indictment of bigotry and cruelty dressed up in the most gorgeous animated chaos you’ll see all year. Ecce Shnak have always operated in their own lane, but this feels like a genuine leveling up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
