A physical edition lands August 7th, 2026 via Polyvinyl Record Co., and yes, you\u2019re going to want the vinyl.<br>The game itself is a big deal \u2014 it features a brand-new storyline co-written by Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O\u2019Malley, made in collaboration with Universal Products &amp; Experiences. And the soundtrack? Recorded at Valve Studios in Dallas with producer Casey di Iorio (whose credits include Andre 3000, Slayer, and Marvel Studios), it\u2019s Anamanaguchi doing what Anamanaguchi does best \u2014 smashing together their chiptune 8-bit DNA with fuzzed-out garage rock and somehow making it all feel inevitable.<br><br>The lead single <em>United By Fate<\/em> features in the game\u2019s launch trailer and it absolutely rips. Go watch it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Four Worlds, One Massive Soundtrack<\/strong><br><br>The OST is split into four thematic sections that map to the game\u2019s structure: Toronto (your normal, beautiful, slightly chaotic world), and then three supernatural threats \u2014 Vegans, Demons, and Robots. Each has its own sonic identity, and the band didn\u2019t hold back on genre-hopping. In their own words:<br><br><em>\u201cWe\u2019ve learned a lot since recording the 2010 OST in our basement. The hypest part of working with Casey was being able to change the recording methods on a dime, since we had to flex so many different styles on this one \u2014 thrash, surf, reggae, emo, boss music, etc.<\/em>\u201d<br>Thrash. After making waves in the early internet chiptune scene (we\u2019re talking literally programming music onto Nintendo cartridges), they scored the original Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game back in 2010 \u2014 a soundtrack that became genuinely legendary and helped them crowdfund their debut album, Endless Fantasy, in 2013.<br>Since then: a Hatsune Miku collab that went viral on Fortnite, the Netflix anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off in 2023, and their acclaimed 2025 LP Anyway \u2014 produced by Grammy-winner Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Sleater-Kinney) \u2014 which earned them career-best praise from NPR, Pitchfork, Bandcamp Daily, and more.<br><br>What\u2019s wild is how this latest soundtrack came together. Most of it was written on a tour bus, using software designed for older gaming systems. No fancy studio setup \u2014 just the band, minimal gear, and a deep love for tracker-based composition. In an era where every producer has access to limitless modern DAWs, Anamanaguchi are out here actively preserving a dying art form.
