Stephen \u2018Mal\u2019 Mallinder and Chris Watson have announced \u2018But What Time Is It Really?,\u2019 a live album due April 24th via Memetune \u2014 and the title isn\u2019t just a philosophical provocation, it\u2019s a deadline. Because this one comes bundled with news of a final North American tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album was captured during last year\u2019s sold-out UK run, which marked half a century since the band\u2019s live debut at Sheffield Students Union Refectory on May 13th, 1975. Joined by Eric Random and Oliver Harrap, Mallinder and Watson delivered new arrangements of classic cuts \u2014 <em>Sensoria<\/em>, <em>Crackdown<\/em>, <em>Do Right<\/em>, <em>Spies in the Wires<\/em> \u2014 alongside <em>Tinsley Viaduct<\/em>, a piece of contemporary musique concr\u00e8te from Watson himself. Engineered and mixed by Benge, the record is a visceral document of a band whose prescience has never felt more relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>This record captures the powerful essence of contemporary live performance and establishes a visceral connection to the history of the band.<\/em>\u201d \u2014 Chris Watson<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>It was an opportunity to capture the shows as a unique moment in time but also give people the opportunity to have a memento.<\/em>\u201d \u2014 Stephen Mallinder<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The final North American leg kicks off May 4th in Seattle, sweeping down the West Coast before returning East in September. Support across those dates comes from I Speak Machine \u2014 and ISM\u2019s Tara Busch will also step in for Chris Watson on synths and samples.
