Montreal psych-rock veterans Elephant Stone are back with their tenth studio album, and they\u2019re not easing you in gently. \u2019ASHA,\u2019 due August 28, 2026 via Elephants On Parade\/Little Cloud Records, arrives alongside lead single and video Everything Evil<\/a><\/em> \u2014 a sub-two-minute proto-psych-punk missile that\u2019s over almost before you know what hit you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album\u2019s title carries real weight. ASHA is the Sanskrit word for \u201chope<\/em>,\u201d and it\u2019s named after the late mother of frontman, sitarist, and songwriter Rishi Dhir, who passed away earlier this year. Written and recorded in the aftermath of that loss, the record is a meditation on grief \u2014 the kind that doesn\u2019t resolve neatly, that lives in the friction between sorrow and something that might, eventually, look like hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything Evil<\/em> is a deliberate gut-punch of an opening statement. \u201cI wanted to come out of the door swinging,<\/em>\u201d Dhir says. \u201cIt feels like there\u2019s a lot of evil in the world right now, and \u2018Everything Evil\u2019 is a direct response to that \u2014 it\u2019s short, it\u2019s angry, and it gets straight to the point.<\/em>\u201d Raw, hooky, and ruthlessly efficient, it signals a band that has something urgent to say and zero patience for softening it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
