South London’s Sandhouse make their mark with a hypnotic new single and a landmark label signing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Duo, The Deal, The Snapdragon<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

South London two-piece Sandhouse have kicked off 2026 with a serious double move \u2014 dropping new single Snapdragon<\/em> and becoming the first UK act to sign to US indie Broke Records. Not a bad way to start the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna Sutherland and Caspar Holloway have been quietly building something special, weaving together alt-rock edge, 60s psychedelia, trip-hop atmosphere and electronic textures into a sound that feels both timeless and totally now. Snapdragon<\/em> follows their debut EP ‘Circus’, which has already racked up over 2 million streams on Spotify \u2014 not bad for a duo still in the early chapters of their story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Does ‘Snapdragon’ Sound Like?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Produced by Ben Hillier \u2014 the guy behind records from Blur and Depeche Mode, so yeah, solid pedigree \u2014 Snapdragon<\/em> leans into a more direct, guitar-driven zone. Gently chugging guitars, a steady rhythmic pulse and Anna’s cool, distinctive vocal delivery anchor the whole thing. It’s got a sweetness to it, but there’s an undercurrent of unease that keeps you hooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lyrically, it digs into the idea of wilful self-deception \u2014 knowingly choosing a lie because the truth is less interesting. The band put it well themselves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“‘Snapdragon’ flowers symbolise deception, due to the skull-like shape that appears when their petals fall away. This is a song about the excitement of recognising a lie and choosing to believe it, rather than turn away.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dark and kind of romantic at the same time. We’re into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hype Is Real<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The press has been paying attention. The Line of Best Fit called it “a full body experience”<\/em>, EARMILK went with “timeless and modern”<\/em>, and Dork Magazine noted that Sandhouse are “approaching 2026 as if the next chapter is already halfway written.”<\/em> BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing have all been spinning the band, with Introducing naming them Track of the Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the live front, they’ve sold out headline spots at Corsica Studios, The Lexington and Peckham Audio, and have been out on tour with Bleach Lab and Panic Shack. The momentum is very much there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
