Singapore’s Gnaw are kicking off their run with a debut EP that hits like a shot of espresso through a blown-out amp. ‘Inside a Machine That’s Glistening’ \u2014 four tracks of genre-defying noise-pop bliss \u2014 is out now on Bandcamp<\/a> and streaming everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band’s sound is a delicious collision of influences: think fuzzed-out ’90s alt-rock in the vein of Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins crashing into the digital abrasion of Sleigh Bells and Jane Remover. It’s hypergaze joy rushes one second, alt-rock romanticism the next \u2014 with dreamy vocals and lyrics that dig into ambition, stardom, fear, and self-destruction. Heavy stuff wrapped in an irresistibly noisy bow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To mark the release, Gnaw dropped a video for EP opener Gash<\/em> \u2014 and it’s a wild ride. The track explodes out of the gate with machine-gun drumming and wailing guitars while vocalist Tara Tan wrestles with desire, aging, and self-doubt in real time.
