Arriving on the heels of <em>Spiderman Pi\u00f1ata<\/em>\u2014which has been in heavy rotation on Los Angeles tastemaker station KCRW\u2014the track signals another sharp turn for a band that thrives on unpredictability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where <em>Spiderman Pi\u00f1ata<\/em> blurred cumbia, disco, and punk into a kaleidoscopic swirl, <em>CURBSTOMP<\/em> locks into a tighter, more rhythm-forward groove\u2014urgent, kinetic, and built to move while pushing the band further outside any one lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vocalist\/guitarist Leo Mendez puts it plainly: <em>&#8220;CURBSTOMP is a song that takes inspiration from places we haven&#8217;t necessarily tapped into yet. I think we&#8217;re constantly trying to create out of our comfort zone and this definitely differs from what we&#8217;ve been putting out.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And on the song&#8217;s heavier undercurrent: <em>&#8220;At its core it&#8217;s a song that talks about violence\u2014what violence is, who perpetuates it, the dynamics of it. I think it&#8217;s important to understand that violence comes in many forms. I also see it as a warning that if we do not take the time to understand it and resist it, we eventually fall victim to it.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formed in Southern California, Integra Pink\u2014Leo Mendez (vocals\/guitar), Bardo Mendez (vocals\/guitar), Nick Jauregui (drums), and Roman De La Fuente (bass)\u2014have built their rep on constant reinvention. Pulling from punk, rock, new wave, and Latin influences, every release is its own experiment.
