If you’ve been sleeping on Baxter Dury’s ‘Allbarone’<\/strong> \u2014 the Paul Epworth-produced album that’s been turning heads all year \u2014 here’s your wake-up call. Sheffield’s own Parrot and the inimitable Jarvis Cocker have put their hands on the title track and taken it somewhere gloriously strange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The duo drag Allbarone<\/em> through the industrial backstreets of the city after dark, dropping in a mercury-heavy bassline and layering up a pair of sliced vocals that bubble and writhe against each other until the whole thing starts to feel like liquid acid. It’s exactly the kind of remix that earns its existence \u2014 not just a tweak, but a genuine transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Allbarone<\/em> (Parrot and Cocker Remix) is out now, and it’s getting a highly limited edition 7″ release with the original on the flip side. Pre-orders open May 1st<\/strong> \u2014 don’t sleep on this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
