The quintet have just premiered <em>Deny<\/em>, the final single ahead of their sophomore album \u2018Bingo!,\u2019 out June 12 via Mothland (CA\/US) and Bella Union (worldwide). The track debuted over at FLOOD Magazine, and honestly, it&#8217;s the kind of song that makes you want to reorganize your entire personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Deny<\/em> is a perfectly-lopsided disco anthem built on four-to-the-floor drive, polyrhythmic bass lines, ear-snagging guitar volleys, and psychotronic synth countermelodies \u2014 all topped with stern, declarative vocals that eventually bloom into an epic four-part vocal canon. The song started life in French before being translated to English, and that bilingual DNA gives it something most dance-punk tracks just don&#8217;t have. As the band puts it: <em>&#8220;The song deals with dysfunctional relationships and getting rid of burdens in your life. Standing up for yourself. This doesn&#8217;t work for me; I&#8217;m out.&#8221;<\/em> Same, honestly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video \u2014 directed by B\u00e9atrice Cuierrier-Legault \u2014 is just as distinct as the track. She built out individual visual tableaus for each band member, pulling from their personal archives to create alter-ego characters rooted in their real lives. Produced by F\u00e9lix B\u00e9lisle and Emmanuel \u00c9thier (Corridor, Chocolat, Population II), the record digs deeper into polyrhythms, counter-intuitive chord changes, and harmonic dissonance \u2014 while somehow remaining completely danceable. Songs like <em>Power Snoozer<\/em>, <em>Princesse<\/em>, <em>Snack City<\/em>, and <em>Trixie<\/em> cover everything from mental health to the autonomization of women to celebrating sex workers to, yes, elderly people who love Bingo. It&#8217;s snarky and heartfelt in equal measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album was tracked live off-the-floor using rare ribbon microphones and vintage compressors by engineer Renny Wilson (Nap Eyes, Faith Healer), mixed by B\u00e9lisle and \u00c9thier, and mastered by Robin Schmidt \u2014 whose credits include Pixies, The Hives, and Viagra Boys. So yeah, it&#8217;s going to sound incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Catch Them Live<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>La S\u00e9curit\u00e9 are bringing the party to New York on <strong>July 11<\/strong> at Night Club 101.
