The track opens with lo-fi, atmospheric guitar riffs before velvety drums settle in beneath Zofia Smith&#8217;s luminous vocals, crafting a tone that&#8217;s quietly empathetic and deeply introspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bandleader Zofia Smith explains the concept behind the song:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;empty house is a metaphor for the beauty of life&#8217;s impermanence. They kicked things off with a fully sold-out headlining run in China \u2014 their debut there \u2014 followed by the premiere of their first KEXP session, which DJ Cheryl Waters called &#8220;absolutely beautiful.&#8221; Both NME and Alternative Press have named them a Band to Watch, with AP noting their ability to carve out music that feels &#8220;both fragile and self-assured.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>empty house<\/em> follows earlier singles <em>paper thin<\/em> \u2014 a gauzy meditation on love and lust \u2014 and <em>mettle<\/em>, which channeled the anxiety of a grim world into something thunderous and hopeful.
