The Copenhagen post-punk veterans have shared <em><a href=\"https:\/\/iceage.ffm.to\/theweak.opr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">The Weak<\/a><\/em>, the latest single from their forthcoming album &#8216;For Love of Grace &amp; the Hereafter&#8217;, due May 29th via Mexican Summer \u2014 and it hits like a freight train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Premiered by Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 6, <em>The Weak<\/em> follows last month&#8217;s <em>Ember<\/em>, which Stereogum called &#8220;the album&#8217;s barnburner of an opener.&#8221; If that was the warmup, this is the sprint \u2014 jittery, jangling, and surging with a kind of coiled energy that snaps loose at exactly the right moment. The record is described as their tightest yet \u2014 even glossy in places \u2014 but never so polished it loses the pulse. Expect wordless howls, nastily detuned riffs bending into harmony, handclaps, breakdowns, and what sounds like a chaotic choral break played on pennywhistles. Classic Iceage, cranked up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Produced and mixed by the band alongside Nis Bysted, the album was tracked at Silence Studio \u2014 a modest house tucked in rural Sweden near the Norwegian border. Here&#8217;s the kicker: it&#8217;s the same studio where they recorded 2014&#8217;s &#8216;Plowing Into the Field of Love&#8217;. They went back on purpose. They wanted that same electric, room-on-fire energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Raw, Live, and on the Edge<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The approach was deliberately stripped down \u2014 minimal overdubs, full takes, decisions made in the moment. The lyrics were written just weeks before the sessions began, keeping everything urgent and unguarded.
