This week, EMA announced the release date and album details for the forthcoming LP from\u00a0‘The Future’s Void,’ which is out April 8th via Matador Records. She also released the video for\u00a0the second track from the album that is a\u00a0collaboration with artist\u00a0Molly\u00a0Soda, directed by\u00a0Vice Cooler. ‘The Future\u2019s Void’ is available to\u00a0pre-order on CD, Cassette and LP<\/a>\u00a0(limited edition lavender coloured vinyl), or you can get it from\u00a0iTunes<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Amazon<\/a>.\u00a0This is the follow-up to her acclaimed 2011 LP, ‘Past Life Martyred Saints,’ and was written by Erika M. Anderson, recorded in Portland, Oregon, and produced by Erika and Leif Shackelford.<\/p>\n

\"ole-1054_ema_the_future_s_void\"<\/a>EMA recently told NME that the album was influenced by, among other things,\u00a0NiN demos, the heavier side of\u00a0early K Records, and William Gibson\u2019s\u00a0Neuromancer, and that the album looks at the digital commodification of our online lives.<\/p>\n

She says, \u201cI gravitate toward hooks and melodies, and in some ways the structure of these songs are my poppiest yet,\u201d<\/em> while noting that the jarring production includes a lot of first takes and spontaneously-recorded ambient sounds \u201cto keep the songs from being advertisements.”<\/em><\/p>\n

EMA will be hitting the road starting at SXSW and visits pretty much everywhere.<\/p>\n
