Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders share video for ‘Susan’

Jack Ladder

Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders’ new album ‘Blue Poles’ is out now via Terrible Records. It’s accompanied by a mesmerizing new video for the track Susan. Check out the video via YouTube below.

Inspired by 1980s psychic hotline infomercials, director Leilani Croucher feels they tap into her interpretation of the song as someone trying looking for answers and in the process “losing themselves in the desire to be someone else; to become something else”.

“The video exists in a world where people are looking for answers through a television set”, she continues. “They hear a voice supposedly calling to them from the other side. These infomercials are a truly fascinating reflection on our constant desire to find the answers. They are combination of over-the-top melodrama mixed with real people trying to better themselves.”

Ahead of the Susan video were the two singles, White Flag and Feel Brand New, which together offer an insight into the stunning breadth of musical feel and emotional complexity of the album.

‘Blue Poles’ is the fifth album from one of the most singular characters in Australian music. Sentimental and mournful, sardonic and surreal, Jack Ladder brings that towering and tender baritone to bear on tales of beauty, love, hope and redemption. A master of musical narrative, he conjures lyrics that celebrate the absurdity and sincerity of the human condition in songs that groove in subtle ways.

Jack Ladder recently wrapped up a stint of dates supporting Alex Cameron across Europe and the U.K. Upon returning to Australia, he and Alex Cameron are in the midst of a run of dates opening for The Killers. They launch the album with Australian dates later in May.
