Korean Cars shift gears with explosive single ‘Magalomaniac’

Norwegian post-rock collective Korean Cars are back and turning up the intensity with their second single, Magalomaniac, from the upcoming debut mini-album ‘#1,’ landing May 23 via Mas-Kina Recordings.

Where their first single, Drömtorp, lulled us into a beautifully haunting dreamscape, Magalomaniac yanks us into a storm of slow-building tension, cinematic swells, and raw, distorted emotion. It’s a brooding, slow-burn kind of track — the kind that simmers, then explodes in all the right places.

Hit play on Magalomaniac — you’ll want to sit with this one.

Sonically, Korean Cars are walking the line between post-rock ambiance and post-hardcore urgency. Think towering soundscapes draped in reverb, punched up with jagged edges and emotional bursts that feel straight out of a ‘90s basement show. It’s music that’s atmospheric and aggressive, fragile and forceful — all at once.

This isn’t their first rodeo either. Korean Cars is made up of members from Rumble in RhodosInfidels ForeverArms on Fire, and Insense — veterans of Norway’s underground rock scene. Together, they bring serious chemistry, with a sound that nods to Explosions in the Sky‘s cinematic scope and the chaotic energy of …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.

If you’re into beautifully layered noise, emotional crescendos, and that delicious tension between chaos and control — Korean Cars just might be your new obsession.

Keep an eye out for ‘#1’ dropping May 23, and in the meantime, dive into Magalomaniac. It’s a trip worth taking.
