Melbourne producer Life is Better Blonde has shared his new single Winter. The track is a collaboration with Perth-based indie-electronica artist, Angus Dawson.
Winter takes a significant departure from Life is Better Blonde’s lo-fi, minimal R&B and brings out the lush synths, tribal percussion, and a production finesse in this collaborative effort with Dawson – complemented with a mix by Grammy-nominated producer Andrei Eremin.
Lifted from his forthcoming EP due this Summer, Winter is a melding of layers upon layers of both Life is Better Blonde and Dawson’s vocals backed up by a dense layering of percussion, bells and lush synths. This track marks the second collaboration from LIBB since his teaming-up with LUCIANBLOMKAMP on the drum-n-bass tinged Distractions.
Life is Better Blonde says Winter is an “antagonistic note to self…the ways you try to force yourself out of a rut whilst being deliberately unhelpful.”

Drawn to downtempo, lumbering kind of grooves, Life is Better Blonde’s music is inspired by sonic accidents, broken sounding things and old voice memos. His recent tracks, Strange Organism and My God is Not Going To Like You is the first encounter between Life is Better Blonde and producer Andrei Eremin, whose previous credits include working with Grammy-nominated Hiatus Kaiote and Chet Faker.
Life is Better Blonde is the result of lost and discovered voice memos, late-night musings and discarded production scraps. Taking cues from the likes of James Blake, Arthur Russell and Thundercat, the music is both introverted and deeply personal while displaying a grit common to glitch and electronica.
Releasing his debut EP ‘Space + Tyres’ in 2017 through Majestic Casual, Life is Better Blonde created instant attention with airplay on BBC 1 XTRA and Triple J, and online features with Clash Magazine, Indie Shuffle and Huffington Post among others. The 5-track EP also featured Triple J Awarding song, Mine.
