Lou Barlow shares new video for ‘Nerve’

Lou Barlow

Lou Barlow released ‘Brace the Wave,’ his first solo album in six years, in September via Joyful Noise. It’s currently available for purchase on black and coloured vinyl, CD, cassette, and digitally, and you can stream the full album via Spotify.

Barlow shares the video for Nerve, a candid cut from the album that focuses on a broken relationship. Directed by video maker and musician Adam Harding, the video’s images mirror its lyrics with shots of broken musical gear and a mix of personal footage from Barlow’s past, dating back to 1994, and his current home in Greenfield, MA. You can watch the video below via YouTube.

‘Brace the Wave’ adds to Barlow’s extensive and celebrated discography, which includes releases from Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Folk Implosion, and his first solo endeavor, Sentridoh. Recorded with with Justin Pizzoferrato in under a week in western Massachusetts, the album is a mix of tracks that employ the songwriter’s early methods of tuning his ukelele down low and writing during the recording process and traditional-style folk songs that he performed live in the studio.
