Legendary Welsh punk outfit mclusky is back. May 9, 2025, marks the arrival of their first new album in two decades, ‘The World Is Still Here and So Are We’, via Ipecac Recordings.

New Music – Out Now

Get a first taste of the chaos with a two-song digital single featuring Way of the Exploding Dickhead and Unpopular Parts of a Pig—stream now: mclusky.lnk.to/exploding.

Accompanying the release is a sharp-witted, high-energy video for Way of the Exploding Dickhead, directed by Remy Lamont. Packed with jagged riffs, biting humour, and relentless energy, it proves mclusky is still as ferocious as ever.

Andrew Falkous on Way of the Exploding Dickhead

With a title shamelessly borrowed from the ZX Spectrum video game The Way of the Exploding Fist and lyrics inspired by the absurdity of surge pricing on concert tickets, the song is a modern parable—minus the parable bit.”

No Asterisks, No Nostalgia—Just mclusky

This is mclusky’s fourth album—no disclaimers necessary. For a while, they carried an asterisk out of respect for past members and the nostalgia-fueled glue that holds teenage music obsessions together. Not anymore.

Lyrically, ‘The World Is Still Here and So Are We’ is as cryptic, irreverent, and brilliantly absurd as ever. Expect songs that are about things without being precisely about them—mclusky insists on this approach.

A Legacy of Chaos

Formed in Cardiff, Wales, in the late ‘90s, mclusky carved out a cult following with their blend of biting satire, angular guitars, and full-throttle live shows. Their first three albums—‘mclusky Do Dallas’ (2002), ‘The Difference Between Me and You Is That I’m Not on Fire’ (2004), and ‘My Pain and Sadness Is More Sad and Painful Than Yours’ (2000)—cemented their reputation as one of the most vital underground punk bands of their era.

After disbanding in 2005 and reuniting in 2019, mclusky has continued to set stages ablaze, and now, with ‘The World Is Still Here and So Are We,’ they prove they never really left.

mclusky is:
Damien Sayell – Bass, Vocals
Jack Egglestone – Drums, Vocals, Percussion
Andrew Falkous – Guitar, Vocals
