Globally renowned action sports & culture magazine Monster Children this week launches its 50th Issue, a milestone for the independent magazine established in Australia in 2003. The specially curated Issue 50 is based around the notion of ‘Heroes’ and features exclusive interviews with 50 individuals that Monster Children love and admire.
The diverse list of Heroes ranges from 80-year-old shark expert Valerie Taylor AM and film legend David Lynch to renowned designer and typographer Stefan Sagmeister and up and coming Australian actress Odessa Young.
Also interviewed for the issue are skate industry icon Keith Hufnagal, fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, artist Barry McGee, film makers Glendyn Ivin and Nabil Elderkin, legendary musicians Warren Ellis and Ian MacKaye, world champion longboarder Kelia Moniz and Papua New Guinean born soul singer Ngaiire. Although the issue features many big names, the issue also highlights a new generation of surfers, skateboarders, artists and creatives.
The issue also features a specially illustrated gatefold cover by American artist and long time Monster Children collaborator, Evan Hecox.
Launched in 2003 by Campbell Milligan and Chris Searl, and published four times a year, Monster Children Magazine has developed a cult following over its 50-issue history. Covering surf, skate, art, design, music and photography, Monster Children has a long list of lauded contributors including Spike Jonze, Mike D, Jason Lee, Hedi Slimane and Anton Corbijn among many others.
