Album drops Sept 12 + Tour dates announced
New York City’s electronic post-punk trio Public Circuit are back to shake your bones and stir your spirit with their upcoming album ‘Modern Church,’ dropping September 12 via À La Carte Records. The band—made up of Ethan Biamont, Sean Holloway, and Nelson Fisher—are marching into the sacred and profane with a sound that blurs coldwave edges, synth-pop sweetness, and post-punk grit.
First taste? Their thumping, glammed-up single Samson, out now with a video that looks like it was edited in the church basement after a rave. With pulsing synths and sharp lyrical introspection, it explores fragile masculinity through the lens of the legendary strongman of scripture. Except this time, Samson’s hair is more than power—it’s gender identity, vulnerability, and rebellion.
“I always thought Samson was so cool as a kid,” says Biamont. “But now, the story hits different. What happens when we strip masculinity of its performance? What’s left underneath?”
‘Modern Church’ isn’t just a clever title—it’s a concept. The band dives deep into themes of gender identity, religious guilt, and societal decay, all soundtracked by warped synths, machine beats, and melancholic melodies. Forget nostalgia—this is post-punk for the moment we’re living in, built from the buzz and chaos of modern NYC.
Think: the cinematic electronics of M83, the icy chill of Molchat Doma, a dash of Delia Derbyshire’s vintage circuitry, and a whole lot of existential dread.
Following the success of their 2024 debut ‘Lamb,’ Public Circuit toured relentlessly across the US with a string of sold-out shows and festival sets at New Colossus, Hopscotch, and MACROCK. Now, they’re taking ‘Modern Church’ across North America and Europe with a sprawling tour that kicks off in September.
Here’s where you can catch them preaching their post-punk gospel:
