Manchester’s own Sea Fever is back, blending clubland heat with icy indie cool on their first release of 2025. Loose Cut is here—synth-heavy, pulsing, and packed with neon-lit energy.

After making waves with their debut album ‘Folding Lines’ in 2021, the five-piece returns sharper than ever, channeling their post-punk, new wave, and electronic pedigree into a track that’s both hypnotic and electrifying.

New Music, New Era

A sonic rush of hard-hitting beats and glowing melodies, Loose Cut marks a bold new chapter for Sea Fever—now officially signed to rising indie label Cosmic Glue. With their biggest gigs to date behind them, including a sold-out show at Manchester’s Gorilla last November, the band is charging forward with undeniable momentum.

We wanted to come back with a song that lets people escape—even for just a minute,” says Iwan Gronow, vocalist and guitarist. “Something that cuts through the noise of everyday life.”

Beth Cassidy, vocalist, describes the track as “fractious and unpredictable, a series of one-liners that match the energy of the music.”

For Tom Chapman, bassist and co-writer, it’s all about the creative freedom. “No rules, just a collage of ideas that turned into an intriguing dance track.”

There’s a certain chaotic beauty in it,” adds Gronow. “We fought hard to get this music out into the world—at times, we thought we wouldn’t. But here we are.”

A Supergroup with Deep Roots

Sea Fever is built on decades of experience in some of indie and electronic music’s most iconic acts. With New Order’s Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham, Haven and Johnny Marr’s Iwan Gronow, Section 25’s Beth Cassidy, and drummer Elliot Barlow, formerly of Brix & The Extricated, their sound is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Now, as Loose Cut emerges from their latest studio sessions, expect a setlist stacked with fresh material, fan favourites, and their signature fusion of electro, indie, and post-punk.
