NYC-via-Brazil dreamrockers shower curtain just unveiled their latest single, and it’s a glimmering, heady rework that floats somewhere between a late-night subway ride and a lucid dream. tell u – Crate Remix is the newest offering from the upcoming ‘words from a wishing well (Deluxe Edition),’ out May 23rd via Angel Tapes / Fire Talk.
Originally a lo-fi interlude on their debut album, tell u gets totally transformed in this remix by Crate — the buzzy NYC shoegaze project that shares band member Cody Hudgins with shower curtain. The new version doubles down on runtime and atmosphere, pulling the track into a lush, drum & bass-laced dreamscape that feels like floating in a neon-lit cloud.
Frontperson Victoria Winter had this to say:
“I was so happy to have Cody work on this remix — it turned a lo-fi track we made on a computer into a whole new world. It’s drum & bass now, but still holds onto the original melody’s spirit.”
And from Hudgins:
“I’ve always loved ‘tell u.’ As soon as the remix idea came up, I knew it had to be that one. Chopping up sounds is one of my favourite parts of producing, and this track was already so inspiring. It’s like a dream turned all the way up.”
This isn’t the first remix off the deluxe record — earlier reworks by Retail Drugs and Computerwife have already dropped, with more still to come from LAILA and fantasy of a broken heart. Think of the deluxe album as a community mixtape: same songs, totally reimagined through the lens of NYC’s indie underground.
To celebrate the release, shower curtain is throwing a party — er, a show — on May 24th at Nightclub 101 in NYC. They’ll be joined by LA labelmates Jawdropped, plus Bedridden, and DJ sets by fantasy of a broken heart and Computerwife. Basically, the lineup is stacked.
ICYMI: shower curtain’s debut ‘words from a wishing well’ turned a lot of heads last year. It scored praise from Pitchfork, NPR Music, FLOOD, and more. Stereogum called them “Best New Artist,” Paste said “Best of What’s Next,” and Alt Press marked them as a 2025 “Rising Artist To Watch.” The first vinyl pressing sold out quick, but a dreamy new Benadryl Pink Variant is up for pre-order now — shipping in June.
shower curtain is:
- Victoria Winter (vocals/guitar)
- Cody Hudgins (bass)
- Ethan Williams (guitar)
- Sean Terrell (drums)
Together, they’ve built a sound that swirls with shoegaze haze, ’90s indie rock nostalgia, and a whole lot of heart — think The Cranberries deep cuts wrapped in an ambient hug.
Pre-order the deluxe album, stream tell u – Crate Remix, and if you’re anywhere near NYC, don’t sleep on that release show.
