Belgian shoegazers Slow Crush are back with their first new music in three years, and it’s a stunner. Their latest single, While You Dream Vividly, is a slow-motion plunge into emotional freefall—a shimmering swirl of longing, surrender, and otherworldly calm. It’s the sound of floating just beneath the surface, tethered to someone you can’t quite reach, but wouldn’t dare let go.

We wanted to capture the sensation of being tethered to someone yet drifting weightlessly,” the band shares. And with Isa Holliday’s dreamy vocals echoing like a gentle lullaby over gauzy guitar textures, the track does just that—it lingers, it soars, it haunts.

While You Dream Vividly arrives ahead of the band’s new album ‘Thirst,’ due out August 29 via Pure Noise Records. It’s their third LP and first for the label, following the underground cult-faves ‘Aurora’ (2018) and ‘Hush’ (2021), which quietly helped define the modern shoegaze revival. Now, with ‘Thirst,’ Slow Crush are leaning further into the haze, but also turning up the volume.

Recorded at The Ranch in Southampton, UK with producer Lewis Johns (Loathe, Employed to Serve), ‘Thirst’ builds on their signature wall-of-sound, mixing in heavier riffs and deeper emotional currents. According to Isa, it’s her most vulnerable vocal work yet—there were moments in the booth when she couldn’t sing through the tears.

Thematically, the album dives deep into what Isa calls “the romance of being with a loved one”—the strain of separation, the joy of reunion, and the surreal stillness of simply being together. “We want people to let themselves go and feel embraced by the music,” she explains. “It’s about giving yourself a moment to just be, in a world that constantly demands your attention elsewhere.”
