New Mexico dream-gazers Tan Cologne are back with a brand new track that’s as expansive and meditative as the high desert skies they call home. The duo—Lauren Green and Marissa Macias—just dropped their latest single and video, Infinity, and it’s everything we’ve come to love about their sound: hazy, hypnotic, and full of spiritual shimmer. It’s the first taste of their upcoming third album, ‘Unknown Beyond,’ landing June 20 via Labrador Records.
Infinity is a slow-burning swirl of shoegaze guitars and ghostly vocals, a sonic drift into the unknown. The track explores the passage of time, the shifting of form, and the inevitable return to the cosmic soup we all came from. Or, as the band puts it, it’s “about an endless drift into the infinite.” The lyrics—“All pass through known”—hit like a soft mantra, reminding us we’re all just passing through this weird, beautiful plane of existence.
The video? Pure desert magic. Shot in Taos, NM with their friend Ricardo de Jesus Tejeda and a horse named Lupita (yes, really), it’s a visual meditation on time, connection, and the quiet poetry of a solitary walk that feels like it loops into both beginning and end. It’s serene, strange, and totally captivating.
Tan Cologne’s upcoming album, ‘Unknown Beyond,’ was born out of deep personal change and loss. Written and recorded in solitude at their home in northern New Mexico, it’s a record rooted in reflection, transition, and seeking something beyond the veil. The duo followed visual cues—shooting stars, old satellite dishes, desert fires—as lyrical compass points, channeling grief, memory, and the supernatural into sound. Expect echoing soundscapes, layered rhythms, and a sonic journey that moves like a dream.
If you’re new to Tan Cologne, here’s a quick refresher on their beautifully offbeat catalog:
- 2020’s Cave Vaults on the Moon in New Mexico explored the topography of culture in their home state.
- 2022’s Earth Visions of Water Spaces turned their gaze to water, honoring its power and mystery.
- 2023’s Pescetrullo (soundscapes) captured raw field recordings from Puglia, Italy—melding architecture, nature, and ambient sound into something gorgeously immersive.

With ‘Unknown Beyond,’ they’re diving deeper—into grief, spirit, memory, and space.
