Montreal’s wildest psych-rock collective, TEKE::TEKE, are back with a killer new track, Mienai Iro (Radio Version), and a mesmerizing lyric video to match. The song is part of the just-released ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Kage No Iro (Original Game Soundtrack),’ out now via Ubisoft Music—and it hits hard. Think sweeping flutes, explosive guitars, pounding drums, and Maya Kuroki’s poetic Japanese lyrics painting the shadowy rise of a ninja warrior. It’s cinematic, it’s emotional, and it totally rips.

The video overlays their sound with stunning in-game visuals, bringing the story of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows to life. It’s not just background noise either—these songs are woven right into the game, marking the first time Ubisoft has fully embraced an original album as part of a game’s core storytelling. Major move.

TEKE::TEKE didn’t just lend a song—they went deep. With their roots in Japanese culture and a flair for psych-surf vibes that feel straight out of a lost Tarantino flick, they were basically born to score this game. Ubisoft tapped them to help soundtrack the journey of Naoe, one of the game’s two lead characters—a shinobi with a complex past and serious skills. Maya Kuroki dove headfirst into the world of samurai and shinobi, pulling inspiration from philosophy, folklore, and raw human emotion to build lyrics that feel timeless and haunting.

The collaboration with Ubisoft was more than just a sync deal. The band worked hand-in-hand with the game’s creative team to embed their sound directly into key cinematic scenes. According to TEKE::TEKE’s guitarist Sei Nakauchi Pelletier, the devs were so into the music that they basically became part of the band. And it shows—Kage No Iro is a perfect fusion of TEKE::TEKE’s boundary-pushing artistry and Assassin’s Creed’s immersive storytelling.

And if all that wasn’t enough to get you hyped—they’re hitting the road! TEKE::TEKE just announced a string of North American tour dates for summer 2025. East Coast gets the first taste in June (including a stop at Brooklyn’s iconic Baby’s All Right), and then they head West in July with shows in Seattle, Portland, and more. It’s the perfect chance to catch their wild, genre-bending live energy in person.
