The Blue Knots, formerly known as Rio En Medio, unveil their new single and video Bike By from the upcoming debut album ‘Becoming Noise,’ set to drop on April 25, 2025.

Shot in the intimate style of Small Shake and captured through the lens of Bianca Casady, the track is a musical exploration of movement and stillness. In this track, avant-garde artist Danielle Stech-Homsy fuses minimalist pianet lines with experimental percussive rhythms, crafting a sound that’s as intimate as it is expansive. The song’s ebb and flow mirror the unpredictable dance of life—like two cyclists briefly finding harmony on a shared journey.

Danielle explains, “The opening line of Bike By speaks of silence—not a silence born of avoidance, but one that reveals hidden layers beneath the surface. The song contemplates our strengths and vulnerabilities while celebrating the intricate bonds that connect us all.”

The release comes with an experimental animated video, a visual poem created by Danielle herself. Using light, sand, and sound as her palette, the video evolves from reptilian forms to bird-like, then mammalian shapes, echoing the timeless flow of biological evolution. The shifting imagery—a swirling embryo, the ever-present moon—invites viewers to lose themselves in the narrative of creation and conscious matter.

Across its 12 tracks, ‘Becoming Noise’ is a reflective journey on creation, transformation, and the moments before becoming. As Rio En Medio, Danielle enchanted audiences with four expansive records steeped in acoustic string textures, earning accolades from Pitchfork, Gorilla vs. Bear, and more. With The Blue Knots, she embarks on a new chapter, where the fusion of keys and synthesizers transforms her sound into something both structured and raw.

Danielle muses, “The keyboard and piano stand apart from us—they’re not held close like a cherished instrument but act as conduits to realms of emotion, drawing from classical roots and soaring into experimental landscapes.”

Becoming Noise’ is a tribute to all who have dared to create, a journey of self-discovery woven with threads of sculpture, poetry, and mythology. The album stands as a testament to personal evolution, inviting listeners to explore their own depths through its rich, art-forward narrative.
