Melbourne’s garage-rock sweethearts The Grogans are back at it again—this time with Social Cue, a gritty new single that hits hard and leaves a mark. The track just landed along with a raw, no-frills live performance video shot at Sing Sing Studios, and honestly? It rips.

The song gives us a loud, dirty view into ‘Stagger,’ the trio’s full-length album out now via CW Records. It’s all heavy riffs, pounding drums, and that classic Grogans flavour we can’t get enough of. The band says it channels the sting of disrespect and frustration—so go ahead and blast it loud.

‘Stagger’ is shaping up to be their most sonically diverse project yet. “It came from this idea that it was a jagged and stylistically different album track to track,” the band explains. Expect a rollercoaster of moods and textures—from catchy, feel-good singalongs to dreamy soundscapes, fuzzed-out psych, and even a few introspective moments that pull at your chest.

Here’s the rundown:
The album kicks off with the hooky, high-energy Oh Boy, jumps into the punchy Come Up (Goes Down), and then hits a softer gear with the mellow In My Heart. Have a Little Dream delivers exactly what it promises—a dreamlike floaty vibe—while Once In A While brings in that big, echoey open-air feel.

Then we get Social Cue, sitting right in the heart of the tracklist, burning slow and fierce. From there, it’s into new textural territory with Roll Back and Roundabout, then a moodier turn on Happier Man, a track that dives into heavier psych and the pursuit of becoming your best self. The playful Worry About Everything ironically offers a little worry-free joy, before All My Days closes the album on a reflective note—celebrating the highs and lows of the touring life.

These guys have been on a tear lately—2024 alone saw them criss-cross Europe and the UK, light up stages with Ocean Alley, and join Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers for the ‘Fix It With Salt’ tour back home. Not to mention a five-year anniversary lap for their debut LP Just What You Want.

Rolling Stone Australia calls them “a group with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of melodic, fuzz-drenched riffs,” and honestly, it’s hard to argue. The Grogans have this magic mix of wild energy, genre-hopping creativity, and real heart that makes them one of the most exciting Aussie acts around.

Stay groggy.
