Get ready to blast your speakers—New York’s own The Thing has just unleashed the first two tracks from their eagerly awaited third album. Above Snakes and Dave’s TV hit streaming platforms, kicking off a monthly rollout of two new songs at a time until the full 12‑track LP lands this summer. Stream the two tracks here.
Stream Above Snakes + Dave’s TV
Dive into Above Snakes, a defiant anthem born from an old Western phrase about surviving against all odds—perfectly setting the album’s gritty, chain‑shaking tone. Then slide into Dave’s TV, a krautrock‑tinged heartbreak jam about unrequited love (“She’s watching Dave’s TV,” they wryly explain).

Shot on location at the real Dave’s TV store in Millerton, NY, the band cranks up the camp factor to eleven. It’s equal parts gritty DIY spirit and gleeful rock ’n’ roll rebellion—don’t miss it.

Why we can’t get enough
Critics are buzzing: “Splitting the difference between classic garage skronk and a metallic murk…,” “a much‑needed shot in the arm of actual rock and roll,” and praise for their unapologetic DIY ethos. Recorded live to tape—no computers in sight—The Thing’s forthcoming album promises an immersive, analog experience meant to be blasted loud and experienced from start to finish.
About The Thing
Formed in NYC in 2022, The Thing—Lucas Ebeling (drums), Jack Bradley (guitar/vocals), Michael Carter (guitar/vocals) and Zane Acord (bass/vocals)—draws on influences from The Kinks and Cream to Brian Jonestown Massacre and King Gizzard. Their first two LPs were self‑recorded in basements and home studios; now they’re back with their most fully realized, fiercely independent rock statement yet.
