The Vacant Lots announce new single ‘Paint This City’

The Vacant Lots

The Vacant Lots release their new single, Paint This City, on September 22 via iTunes and all major download and streaming services. The track is much slower paced and softer than their previous singles, but equally as good. Watch the video via YouTube below.

Paint This City is sung by keyboardist/percussionist Brian MacFadyen and was inspired by his time living in Montreal. According to the band, it actually started out as a Paint This City covermisinterpretation of the chords to Galaxie 500’s classic ‘Tugboat,’ but has ended up somewhere in between Mink DeVille’s ‘Spanish Stroll’ and New Order circa ‘Power, Corruption & Lies’.

The single comes backed with Departure, another late-night city song which follows in the tradition of album title tracks that aren’t on the album of the same name i.e. Spacemen 3’s ‘Sound Of Confusion,’ The Jesus And Mary Chain’s ‘Psychocandy,’ Primal Scream’s ‘Screamadelica’ and Ride’s ‘Going Blank Again’.

The band will return in late September for a series of live dates in the UK and Europe, including a London headline show at the Shacklwell Arms and a slot at the Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia – see the full list of dates below.
