Take a wild ride with Real Sickies as they drop their fifth full-length album, ‘Under a Plastic Bag,’ through Stomp Records. This release is where raw energy meets a fresh, melodic twist that speaks to every corner of the punk spectrum.

Key Tracks & Influences
From the kick-off of Wild Imagination to the introspective Should Have Seen It Coming and the dynamic Triage, each track blends classic pop-punk fire with alternative and indie nuances. Drawing inspiration from icons like The Ramones, Teenage Head, and Green Day (yes, even Billie Joe Armstrong has given a nod), Real Sickies channel the rebellious spirit of punk’s golden era while carving out their own sound.

From the Cold Studio to Your Speakers
Recorded during one of Edmonton’s coldest winters at Riverdale Recorders, this album’s creation was as intense as its sound. Producer Joshua Wells brought in that unmistakable post-punk edge, while frontman Ben Disaster recalls the camaraderie—long nights fueled by coffee, sandwiches, and a homemade fort in the studio. “The isolation and chill sparked something unique,” Ben says, capturing the album’s raw essence of chaos, resilience, and the art of rebuilding.

On the Road & On the Scene
Real Sickies aren’t just a studio band—they’re a touring phenomenon. Sharing stages with punk legends like Stiff Little Fingers, Marky Ramone, and PUP, their live shows are a testament to their electrifying energy. “We even played the full album live in Jasper before we had it fully sorted out—local punks were all in, even if management wasn’t,” Ben jokes.

A Journey of Chaos & Creativity
‘Under a Plastic Bag’ isn’t just another album; it’s an immersive experience that encapsulates life on the edge—from bike crashes to the unexpected twists of the road, and moments of pure creative freedom. With its digital release and a special limited-edition solid white LP, this record is a must-have for anyone who lives for high-energy, hook-filled punk rock that’s as heartfelt as it is rebellious.

Stay tuned, crank up the volume, and get ready to dive into the raw, imaginative world of Real Sickies.
