VALI S.C’s (VALI pronounced Valley) is the project of Los Angeles’ Kenneth Elkin. Elkin delivers hazy, futuristic vapors and weaves together a Golden State-inspired smoke that is nostalgic enough to be appreciated by the overlooked, unsentimental listener who recalls a sunnier, more mystical California.

VALI S.C’s ‘To Set The Sea in Wolves Teeth’ EP hit the streets in late February via Cercle Social Records (Soft Kill, Chameleons, Asylum Party). To the debut, Elkin brings a guitar saturated, five-song opus that builds a transformative sonic bridge from the dark path of crime and drug use of Elkin’s past into a new era of love, light, freedom, and ultimately, recovery. Taking influence from My Bloody Valentine, early 4AD, and coldwave, VALI S.C is a rebirth and a proper burial of the past transgressions and an exciting introduction to the artist.

Now, VALI S.C shares the video for Subvert, which was produced, filmed and edited by DVTV. Watch the Subvert video clip via YouTube below.

“I made the video on a whim with some friends,” says Elkin. “We had this rooftop with a gorgeous view overlooking DTLA so we captured the essence of that. My new album is about the city I grew up in and how I was troubled and hit rock bottom. ‘Subvert’ is about accepting the mistakes I made in the past, and of giving up and allowing room for transformation and growth. It is about seeing things from a fresh perspective and becoming a better version of myself.”
