Warmduscher have shared Pure At The Heart featuring Confidence Man’s Janet Planet, the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming 5th album, ‘Too Cold To Hold’ which will be out on Friday November 15th, 2024 via Strap Originals. The new record also features guest appearances by Irvine Welsh, Lianne La Havas, Jeshi and CouCou Chloe.
Unquestionably Warmduscher at their most soulful and tender, and something of a sidestep from their usual direction, talking about the track, the band’s Ben Romans Hopcroft said: “Pure At The Heart was an idea I’ve had knocking around for years…. I wanted to make something with emotional weight but sparkly and fun…I was at a party with Janet planet and played it to her, she immediately started jumping around and singing the bridge melody that is on the track which reinvigorated the song and Clams created the lyrical concept that offset the sweetness of the music.”
Lead vocalist Clams added: “A nod to being one of the few left on the floor when the lights come on and the club closes, and to the adventures to come with the stranger you just met there.”
Pure At The Heart is also accompanied by a beautifully shot video directed by director / cinematographer duo Brandon Young & Harvey Wells, aka Godfearing, who said: “3 days prep. 1 day shoot. We didn’t have long to pull this off but we think it’s a great success. The last time we had 4 days to pull something off Harvey got friction burn.” Check the video out via YouTube below.
The band have previously shared album tracks Staying Alive, which was accompanied by a fantastic claymation video and the 6Music B listed Fashion Week.
Comprised of Clams Baker Jr., Benjamin Romans Hopcraft, Adam J. Harmer, Marley Mackey, Quinn Whalley, and Bleu Ottis Wright, ‘Too Cold To Hold’ is undoubtedly their best and most ambitious album to date. Taking on board the repetitive and polyrhythmic grooves of gqom (an alluring South African take on house music), adding in a dash of hip hop flavours and even jazz, and then harnessing that to their punk-funk, disco pogo, it’s a spellbinding mix.
Produced by the band’s Ben Romans Hopcraft alongside Jamie Neville, the album can be pre-ordered here.
