Wooden Shjips are preparing their breakneck tour schedule of the eastern US and Canada starting November 5 in Chicago. They have release a new video for the song Crossing featuring loads of live footage from their 2010 shows.

Now, for a little background on Wooden Shjips. They formed in 2006 and self released a 10″ and 7″ that year as well as began gigging shortly after. Prior to 2006, Wooden Shjips was an experiment in primitive and minimalist rock. After it imploded, Ripley Johnson, guitar and vocals, assembled the current lineup of Dusty Jermier on bass, Nash Whalen on organ, and Omar Ahsanuddin on drums.

Their latest album, ‘West’ marks the first time the band recorded in a proper studio, as well as the first time with an engineer (Phil Manley). ‘West’ was recorded and mixed in six days at Lucky Cat Studios in San Francisco. It was mastered by Sonic Boom at Blanker Unisinn, Brooklyn, with additional mastering by Heba Kadry at the Lodge in New York. ‘West’ is available via Thrill Jockey on MP3, CD and orange vinyl LP, which includes a special bonus 7″ in full color sleeve featuring the non-album track Phonograph on the A-side and a remix of the album track Looking Out by Peaking Lights on the B-side.
