Grace Vonderkuhn Most Loved
“Though the Wilmington-bred musician has just seven releases to her name (each of which features Grace on guitar, bass, percussion, and keys), she’s made it obvious she has a knack for psychy garage rock, dream pop, and everything in between. Her Bandcamp says her home-recorded tunes are “for true believers,” and suffice it to say, I’m a believer.”

More about Grace Vonderkuhn? Grace Vonderkuhn is a musician based out of Wilmington, Delaware. Her weapon of choice is a distorted electric guitar, though keys, bass, and drums can also be found in her repertoire. Her sound is lo-fi, a mix of garage rock, psychedelic, and shoegaze. Complimenting her arrangements are Grace’s commanding vocals and plaintive lyrics. Inspiration from 90’s rock acts such as The Breeders to 70’s glam like T-Rex can be detected by the keen ear.Vonderkuhn, 24, has been immersed in playing music from a young age. From church choirs to punk bands, her span of experience is evident in her confident performances.

Since the release of her self-titled EP in February of 2015, Grace Vonderkuhn’s live shows have consisted of a 3-piece band (Grace on guitar, accompanied by a bassist and a drummer). Her recordings thus far have been laid down track by track, at home, on an 8 track cassette recorder. Regarding the mostly analog process, Vonderkuhn says, “I love the warmth that recording on tape brings to the songs. There’s something natural about it.”
