Plaitum release new double A-side single ‘Grace Hits / MYO’

Plaitum have announced their new double A-side ‘Grace Hits / MYO,’ following their acclaimed EP Jagwa, which was released earlier this summer. “Grace Hits” and “MYO” tell the story of a night out and the morning after via the brooding atmospherica of producer Matt Canham and the glacial cries and whispers of Abi Dersiley. The single is out now via Harvest in the US but signed to Wolf Tone. The band announce its release with a headline show at New Shapes, Notting Hill Arts Club, London on 7 September.

“MYO begins as a sensual track before switching into something a lot harder,” says Canham. “It was born out of a love of 90s club dance music and the kind of energy you get from cheap thrills towards the end of the night.”

“Grace Hits deals with the morning after,” adds Dersiley. “The hangover when you see the worst in the world around you and especially the person you woke up next to.”

Plaitum create a world of obsession and death, sex and psychosis, and charged, dark electronic pop. Now 20, the multi-instrumentalist pair have been friends since childhood, having met aged 11, at school in Colchester, and bonded over their shared love of Massive Attack, Talking Heads and old horror films. Last year they signed to Wolf Tone, the record label founded by Paul Epworth, and began work on their forthcoming debut album, with Canham at the controls at the famous Church studios in North London’s Crouch End, overseen by Epworth. They released their debut, self-titled EP last winter to critical acclaim followed by the Jagwa EP this summer.
