After a four-year silence that felt like a lifetime, Youth Code have kicked the door off its hinges with ‘Yours, With Malice,’ their brand-new EP out now on Sumerian Records. If you thought they’d mellow out over time, think again—this release is an all-out sonic assault, equal parts fury and finesse.
Leading the charge is the blistering closing track I’m Sorry, now available to stream, share, and absolutely destroy your speakers with. It’s a wild, snarling endnote to a project that’s equal parts industrial chaos and calculated brutality. Go ahead—put it on repeat, if you dare.
Not for the faint of heart.
The reviews are already rolling in, and they say it best:
“Not for the faint-hearted or easily harshed…” – Consequence
“Industrial darlings Youth Code are back and they are not fucking around.” – VICE
“…a hard-hitting reminder of Youth Code’s mesh of intricacy and intensity.” – Knotfest
“…carrying on the only way they know how: violently and as pissed off as ever.” – Revolver
The sound of chaos, refined.
‘Yours, With Malice’ doesn’t just hit—it obliterates. Think: bulldozer made of scrap metal and rage. From bone-crunching snares and sub-bass thumps that’ll rattle your guts, to that ever-present melodic thread holding it all together like a fuse burning toward detonation, this is Youth Code at their most refined and unrelenting.
And yes, Sanford Parker is behind the mix, giving the EP that muscular, in-your-face sound you’d expect—but with just enough finesse to make you hit replay instead of run for cover.
Old-school roots, next-level execution.
Sure, you can hear echoes of 90s titans—Broken-era Nine Inch Nails, Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste-era Ministry, plus nods to the likes of Front 242 and Cabaret Voltaire—but this isn’t nostalgia. It’s evolution. Youth Code have honed their craft into something viciously their own.
Formed back in 2012 by real-life partners Sara Taylor and Ryan George, Youth Code came crashing onto the scene with a demo cassette that caught the attention of Psychic TV’s Angry Love label. Since then, it’s been a decade of tearing up clubs and stages with the likes of Skinny Puppy, Chelsea Wolfe, HEALTH, even main stage sets with Nine Inch Nails and arena shows with My Chemical Romance.
And now, after a pandemic pause, they’re back with what might be their most dialed-in release yet.
