Get ready to sink your teeth into something loud, unfiltered, and totally alive—Drug Dog’s debut album ‘Sniffin’ Around’ is out in the wild. It’s rock with a snarl, born in chaos, rolled in tape hiss, and unleashed without apology.
From the first note, Drug Dog grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. The trio—Elisa Sarpo (vocals, bass), Jussi Karjalainen (drums, backing vocals), and Antti Sarpo (guitar)—aren’t here to polish things up. Instead, they dive headfirst into the messy, beautiful imperfections of raw sound. Think tape-saturated grit, blown-out amps, and moments of unexpected calm where Elisa’s voice floats through the wreckage like a beacon.
And speaking of grit—‘Sniffin’ Around’ wasn’t crafted in some sterile studio. It was captured on a good ol’ Tascam cassette recorder by Teemu Korpipää, a guy who feels most at home when the levels are deep in the red. The result? A record that pulses with the energy of a basement show and the swagger of a band that knows exactly what it’s doing—even when it’s pretending not to.
The first single, Strobolights, teased what was to come with its fuzzy pulse and hypnotic vibe. Now, the full album is out digitally now, with the vinyl pressing via Blue Bear Records. This one’s meant to be played loud—preferably with sticky floors and low ceilings.
