If you haven’t caught Man/Woman/Chainsaw yet, now’s the time. This London-based six-piece have been steadily carving out their spot as one of the most exciting, unpredictable young bands on the scene—and their brand-new single MadDog is proof they’re only getting better.

You can listen to MadDog right now, and it comes as part of a special limited 7” single on So Young Records, paired with their earlier indie-pop banger Adam & Steve. This release marks the band’s first-ever vinyl—and it’s got that raw, energetic punch that’s quickly become their signature.

Who Are Man/Woman/Chainsaw?

Formed when they were just teenagers, this art-punk collective thrives on the edge of chaos and melody. Their sound is a wild mix of taut, noisy energy and catchy hooks, with lyrics that land with a punch of wit and emotion. Critics have been buzzing—from The Guardian calling them “a young British art-punk five-piece reveling in taut chaos,” to Rolling Stone dubbing them “a young band inventing something ecstatically new.” Even BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq can’t help but admit, “I fucking love this band.

Their debut EP, ‘Eazy Peazy,’ released last November, was a thrilling introduction—raw, ambitious, and bursting with forward-thinking rock energy. Since then, their live shows have turned into legendary experiences, honing that electric vibe that’s impossible to bottle but impossible not to feel.

What’s MadDog All About?

Vera Leppänen, the band’s bassist and co-vocalist, shares a bit of insight into the song:

Mad Dog talks about losing a friend and watching them become everything you thought they wouldn’t. We wrote the song as two parts, the pissed off bit and the sad/nostalgic bit, and recorded it with a quick turnaround which was fairly new to us.”

You can hear that dynamic tension in the track—the melody is catchy and spacious, but there’s still plenty of noise and grit underneath, perfectly capturing the emotional rollercoaster of the story.

What’s Next?

The 7” is out now via So Young Records. Pre-order here. Plus, there’s a special exclusive package with the vinyl paired with a print available only at Rough Trade—so if you’re a collector, keep your eyes peeled.

They’ve been on a wild ride already—playing SXSW, hitting their 100th gig, and picking up rave reviews everywhere from Stereogum to CLASH to The Quietus. Their live energy is what really sets them apart, and with shows lined up across the UK and Europe all summer and beyond, the band’s momentum isn’t slowing.
