Featuring Jamie-Lee O’Donnell of Derry Girls fame

West Belfast’s Kneecap return with Sayōnara, a stand-alone, hard-hitting collaboration with Paul Hartnoll of Orbital. The track arrives alongside a striking video directed by Finn Keenan, starring Jamie-Lee O’Donnell — best known as Michelle from the cult-favourite Derry Girls.

Speaking about the experience, Jamie-Lee said: “I had the best time filming the ‘Sayōnara’ music video. Not only is it a massive banger of a track but the intense yet euphoric video is sure to be remembered. The creativity and vision of Finn made it a fantastic environment to create something really special. I was delighted to be involved, especially as I’m already a huge fan of Kneecap’s music.”

Alongside the digital release, Sayōnara will also arrive as part of a double A-sided 12” with Kneecap’s Kemi Badenoch-baiting summer anthem THE RECAP — a ferocious collaboration with drum & bass producer Mozey via Rinse.

Two vinyl variants are available:

  • Green vinyl — already sold out via Kneecap’s exclusive WhatsApp group
  • Black vinyl — available to pre-order now and hitting shelves October 10

This release follows a huge summer for the trio, including a road-blocked Glastonbury setheadline slots at Wide Awake, 2000 Trees, and Green Man, and the announcement of their biggest London show to date at Wembley Arenaon September 18. They’ve also joined Fontaines D.C. for major outdoor shows and made waves after vocally advocating for peace and Palestinian freedom during their Coachella appearance.
