South London sibling duo PUNCHBAG are back and turning the emotional volume way past the red. Clara and Anders Bach have announced their second EP, ‘I Am Obsessed,’ landing 10th April via Mute, and it’s shaping up to be their most intense, unfiltered release yet.
To mark the announcement, the band have shared the EP’s lead single and title track, I Am Obsessed — a twitchy, off-kilter burst of rave-pop that perfectly captures their ability to make fixation feel physical. It opens with uneasy piano stabs before spiralling into something darker and more invasive, with Clara’s lyrics tracing obsession as something that lives under your skin: dirt under fingernails, crumbs in bedsheets, thoughts lodged deep in your chest.
As Clara puts it:
“It’s about being completely obsessed with something or someone, but not in a cute way — more in a ‘your whole body is under attack’ kinda way. It’s sort of disordered, chaotic, overwhelming.”

The new EP also marks a big first for PUNCHBAG: their first-ever physical release. A Dinked Early Doors vinyl has been announced, pairing I Am Obsessed with their debut EP ‘I’m Not Your PUNCHBAG’ in one combined release — a neat way to capture the full arc of their evolution so far.
If their first EP felt like an introduction, this one zooms right in. The band describe it perfectly:
“If our first EP was a selfie, these new songs are like zooming in and thinking, ‘fucking hell my pores look huge’. This EP is turning up the contrast on everyday life… pushing PUNCHBAG’s sonic world even further and dramatising the everyday more than ever before.”
That push into extremes has become their signature. Since the release of I’m Not Your Punchbag in May 2025, PUNCHBAG have earned serious tastemaker love — praised as “freewheeling, cathartic rave-pop” by NME, “unhinged pop that is both infectious and confrontational” by CLASH, and “gloriously untamed and utterly magnetic” by DIY. Elsewhere, Stereogum, PAPER, Dork, Wonderland, and Brooklyn Vegan have all been quick to champion their chaotic-pop vision.
That same intensity spills into their live shows, where sibling chemistry and emotional overload turn gigs into something closer to group therapy — loud, sweaty, cathartic, and deeply communal. It’s no surprise they’ve already sold out multiple London headline shows and landed festival slots everywhere from The Great Escape to Reeperbahn and Iceland Airwaves.
Clocking in with a sharp, five-track runtime, ‘I Am Obsessed’ looks set to be PUNCHBAG distilled: bigger, messier, more dramatic, and totally unapologetic.
