British dance music history doesn’t just repeat itself — sometimes it links arms, hits the studio, and rattles the subs all over again.
That’s exactly what’s happening as Dub Pistols and Freestylers join forces on their brand-new single Like We, featuring the unmistakable voice of General Levy. Out now via Cyclone Records, the track is a future breaks / UKG-fuelled dancefloor weapon and the latest taste from their upcoming collaborative album Enter The Sound, landing 6 March 2026.
A New Angle on a Legendary Voice
Like We hits hard but smart. Rolling breaks, hip-hop swagger, sharp guitar stabs, and heavyweight UK garage basslines lock together beneath General Levy’s vocals — but not in the way you’d expect. This isn’t a straight jungle rewind moment. Instead, Levy slides into a UK rap/ragga hybrid that nods to late-90s underground energy while pushing things into fresh territory.
Freestylers’ Aston Harvey puts it best: this was always about working with General Levy in a way we hadn’t heard before — a throwback vibe, sure, but filtered through modern production and a shared love for that fertile UK crossover sound.
Decades of Crossed Paths, Finally Aligned
This collaboration didn’t come out of nowhere. The roots run deep. Aston first crossed paths with Levy back in the ’90s while producing tracks for Rebel MC, while Dub Pistols’ Barry Ashworth and Levy have shared festival stages and late-night conversations for years.
One of the most legendary moments? General Levy performing at Dub Pistols’ Mucky Weekender festival — then sticking around after his set to flip burgers and drop bars for the crowd. That’s the kind of energy you can’t fake, and it’s baked right into Like We.
Inside Enter The Sound
Like We is a standout chapter in ‘Enter The Sound,’ the debut full-length collaboration between Dub Pistols and Freestylers. Born from friendships forged during the big beat explosion of the mid-1990s, the album moves freely across reggae, ska, hip-hop, trip-hop, breaks, and jungle.
The guest list is stacked: Jonny Osbourne, Tippa Irie, General Levy, Too Many T’s, Horseman, Belle Humble, Scarlett Quinn, Tennor Fly, MC Spyda, Seanie T., JA13 — and ska pioneer Derrick Morgan. Previous singles like Ska Train, Back On The Circuit, and Give You Love have already set the tone, blending legacy energy with modern club pressure.
Scene Veterans, Still Setting the Pace
Freestylers — Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor — have spent nearly three decades shaping UK electronic music, from Top 20 hits like B-Boy Stance and Ruffneck to the global impact of Cracks, which has clocked over 150 million streams. Their Glastonbury ’99 set and collaborations with Pendulum sealed their status long ago.
Dub Pistols, led by Barry Ashworth, have evolved from big beat chaos to festival mainstays across ten albums, collaborating with artists like Terry Hall and Busta Rhymes. Their album ‘Frontline’ hit No.1 on the UK Indie Chart, and Mucky Weekender remains one of the UK’s most beloved independent festivals.
Hitting the Road: UK Tour 2026
To celebrate Enter The Sound, both acts are taking the album on the road with an extensive UK tour running March through May 2026 — including London’s KOKO, Manchester’s Gorilla, and a run of intimate Rough Trade and record-store shows.
