Fcukers flip Angèle ft. Justice’s ‘What You Want’ into something darker

Fcukers with Angèle

This Is not a remix: Fcukers completely reimagine Angèle ft. Justice’s What You Want. Some remixes tweak the EQ and call it a day. And then there’s whatever Fcukers just did to Angèle ft. Justice’s What You Want — which is something else entirely. Out now on Angèle VL Records / Because Music, the Fcukers Remix isn’t a rework. It’s a full-scale artistic transformation. A flip so immersive it borders on rebirth.

The secret weapon? Fcukers’ Shanny steps in with newly added vocals that don’t just ride the track — they destabilize it in the best possible way. Raw, emotional, and impossible to ignore, her presence reframes the whole thing into something darker and deeper. The original’s mysterious pull gets cracked open and rebuilt from the inside out.

Billboard said it best about the source material: Angèle’s airy vocals perfectly contrast the harder-edged production, pulling you into its mysterious world. Fcukers took that world and built a whole new wing onto it.

If you need to catch up on the original, the music video — directed by (LA)HORDE (the same crew behind visuals for Rosalia, Madonna, Sam Smith, and Christine and the Queens) — is very much worth your time.

About Angèle

If you’re not already up on Angèle, now’s your moment. Born Angèle Van Laeken, she’s spent the last several years becoming one of the most important pop artists to come out of Europe — full stop. Her debut, ‘Brol’ (2018), moved over a million copies and gave an entire generation of French and Belgian listeners a soundtrack, including Balance ton quoi, a feminist anthem that became synonymous with the French #MeToo movement.

The follow-up, ‘Nonante-Cinq’ (2021), went deeper — disco-pop with emotional clarity and a refined sense of self. Sold-out arenas followed. Then came the Dua Lipa collab Fever in 2020, a bilingual lockdown anthem that topped charts across multiple countries and introduced her to a massive global audience beyond the Francophone world. Rolling Stone summed it up: “one of those singers you want to say you knew before they were cool.”

Her queer narratives — think Ta reine — have always placed love between women at the center of pop storytelling. At Coachella, she wrapped herself in a pride flag mid-set and turned the Mojave Stage into something that felt like a declaration. Then there’s the Netflix documentary. The CHANEL campaigns. NYC Fashion Week with A$AP Rocky. A 2024 Paris Olympics performance where she joined Phoenix and Kavinsky for Nightcall and reportedly broke Shazam records doing it.

What You Want feels like a hinge moment in her catalog — a pivot point that arrives after all of that, sharpened and unpolished. Angèle isn’t coming. She’s already here.
