mclusky are back in that beautifully unhinged way only mclusky can be, and they’ve got a new mini-album to prove it.
The Cardiff-bred noise-makers will release a six-song collection titled ‘i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley’ on March 20 (digital) and May 1 (vinyl) via Ipecac Recordings. Call it a stop-gap if you want, but like most things mclusky touch, it’s spiraled into something far louder, sharper, and more essential than originally planned.
The mini-album features four brand-new tracks alongside two songs that were previously digital-only, now finally getting the physical treatment they deserve. Pre-orders are live now, with multiple vinyl variants up for grabs: classic black, a translucent red exclusive via the band and Ipecac, and a Rough Trade-only crystal fuchsia pressing for the collectors who like their chaos color-coded.
To mark the announcement, mclusky have unleashed a video for the gloriously blunt lead track i know computer, directed by Remy Lamont. It’s exactly the kind of abrasive, knowing, slightly feral statement you’d expect from a band that has never once tried to behave.
This release follows 2025’s ‘the world is still here and so are we,’ the band’s first full-length in over 20 years—and somehow one of the best comeback albums of the decade. It landed in the Top 20 across rock, alternative, and independent charts, with NPR praising its “bursting creativity,” Pitchfork calling it a reminder of mclusky’s face-melting capabilities, and BrooklynVegan confirming they’re still as sneering and sarcastic as ever.
Andrew Falkous (Falco) sums up the ethos behind the new release in classic mclusky fashion, cutting through the noise of the modern content machine to get to the point: making music because it’s fun, because it’s necessary, because stopping isn’t really an option. What began as a tour-adjacent release quickly turned into a statement of intent. New tracks like i know computer and as a dad may even bleed into the next album—which is already half recorded, apparently, and allegedly something we will like. (We believe him.)
Other tracks dig into mclusky lore a little deeper. spock culture and hi! we’re on strike were recorded during ‘the world is still here…’ sessions but didn’t make the cut, despite being, in Falco’s words, “important historical documents.” Meanwhile, “fan learning difficulties” and “that was my brain on elves” finally escape their digital-only pasts, now pressed into vinyl immortality.

Formed in the late ’90s, mclusky carved out a legacy with albums like ‘my pain and sadness is more sad and painful than yours,’ ‘mclusky do dallas,’ and ‘the difference between me and you is that I’m not on fire’. Decades later, they’re still allergic to irrelevance and still writing songs that feel like someone yelling the truth through a blown-out amp.
‘i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley’ arrives March 20 digitally and May 1 on vinyl. Pre-order it, play it loud, and accept that mclusky are not slowing down anytime soon.
