If you haven’t heard of Ecce Shnak yet, buckle up — because this New York City art-rock collective is about to have a moment, and honestly, it’s long overdue.
The genre-defying five-piece just dropped a wild new video for Katy’s Wart, announced a string of UK tour dates opening for EMF this June, and have a full-length album — ‘Dandy Variances’ — locked and loaded for later this year on Records Man, Records. There’s a lot happening in the Shnak universe right now, and all of it is worth your attention.
Purple Goddesses, Cosmic Justice & Titmouse Productions
Let’s start with the video, because wow.
Katy’s Wart — a hidden gem originally buried in their 2019 album ‘Joke Oso’ — has been resurrected and given the cinematic treatment it always deserved. The result? A surreal animated tale of a well-dressed maniac who picks the wrong fight with the wrong twin sisters, and ultimately gets served a plate of instant karma by five purple goddesses of righteous vengeance. As you do.
There are actually two versions to dive into: a punchy three-minute Animated Music Feelm Version and a sprawling ten-minute Extended Feelm Version that builds the backstory with real dramatic weight. The animation — crafted by the legendary Titmouse Productions (yes, those Titmouse) — is genuinely stunning, and the whole thing was brought to life by the creative trio of Hollye Bynum, Sam Owens, and David Roush.
It’s a blistering, surreal indictment of bigotry and cruelty dressed up in the most gorgeous animated chaos you’ll see all year. Ecce Shnak have always operated in their own lane, but this feels like a genuine leveling up.

Opening for EMF — Yes, That EMF
In news that absolutely rules: Ecce Shnak will be hitting the UK this June as opening act for EMF — the platinum-selling legends behind one of the most infectious songs of the 90s.
This isn’t a cold pairing either. The two bands already toured the US West Coast together in 2025 alongside Spacehog, and Ecce Shnak even features on EMF’s indie dance track ‘LGBTQ+ Lover’, filmed during that same joint run. There’s genuine chemistry here, and UK fans are in for something special.
Bassist, composer, and co-vocalist David Roush put it perfectly: “Our precious pals in the legendary dance-pop crew EMF have invited us to be the opening act for 6 joyful days in the UK early this June… To quote EMF, ‘You deserve more than this world could ever give!'”
And honestly? We believe him.

Who Is Ecce Shnak, Exactly?
Fair question. Pronounced “Eh-kay Sh-knock” (now you know), Ecce Shnak is David Roush (composer, bassist, co-vocalist), Bella Komodromos (vocals), Chris Krasnow (guitar), Gannon Ferrell (guitar), and Henry Buchanan-Vaughn (drums). They operate out of NYC’s experimental scene and have built a reputation for performances that Big Takeover Magazine described as “mathy rock ornateness, sub-metal weight, and prog-infused punk — the perfect attraction of opposites” — while somehow also delivering “pop infectiousness, classical grace, and even hardcore aggression all working in harmony.”
Translation: they shouldn’t work on paper, but they absolutely do in practice.
2025 was already a massive year for them — the ‘Shadows Grow Fangs’ EP (mixed by Nicholas Vernhes of Animal Collective and Deerhunter fame, mastered by Grammy-winner Joe LaPorta), a live ‘Backroom Sessions’ EP, and club collaborations with German DJ Eskei83 and world-famous Madison Mars. The momentum is very real.
What’s Next
The full-length album ‘Dandy Variances’ is coming mid-2026, and if ‘Katy’s Wart’ is any indication of where the band’s head is at creatively, it’s going to be something. Stream the single on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music — and if you’re in the UK this June, do not sleep on these tour dates.
