Nottingham’s finest dark trio just got darker — and we are absolutely here for it.

Bloodworm have shared their brooding new single Alone In Your Garden and announced their debut EP, ‘Blood & Lust’, dropping April 24th on Your Childhood Records. The announcement follows their warmly received single Bloodlust, which landed ahead of a completely sold-out tour with Suede. Yeah, that Suede.

From The Bodega To Suede’s Stage

Over the past eighteen months, Bloodworm have been doing the work — gigging relentlessly, building a fanbase the old-fashioned way, and generating the kind of word-of-mouth buzz that no PR campaign can manufacture. They sold out Nottingham’s The Bodega as headliners at Halloween, and at one of their earliest London dates, Suede’s Richard Oakes happened to be in the crowd on a whim. He was so impressed by the young three-piece that they were invited to support the band across their 17-date sold-out UK tour. That’s the kind of story that doesn’t happen by accident — it happens when you’re genuinely that good.

Into The Shadows: ‘Alone In Your Garden’

If Bloodlust — paired to a Seth Lloyd-directed video — offered shimmering post-punk cool with echoes of The Cure, The Sound and Echo & The Bunnymen, then Alone In Your Garden takes that sound and drags it even further into the dark. It’s the most gothic thing they’ve put out yet, and it arrives with a video featuring footage from their recent sold-out tour run.

Frontman George Curtis explains where the song came from:

This song was written during Autumn over a particularly cold couple of days. I was inspired by the very unique feeling of that time of year, the smell of the air, the falling leaves, the damp stillness that all feels so specifically English. I was trying to invoke those feelings within a song. The song was an attempt at mixing old English folk, with all its folklore and emphasis on tales, with the gothic sound that I am drawn to.”

Damp English autumns have never sounded so menacing. We love it.
