Forty-eight years. Eighteen-plus studio albums. Around 4,500 live shows. Vancouver punk architects D.O.A. have lived several lifetimes worth of rock & roll, and now they’re packaging the best of it into one gloriously loud slab of history.
‘Take on the Tyrants’ drops May 21 via Sudden Death Records in two formats: a double LP vinyl edition with 33 tracks, and a single-CD pressing with 30 tracks. It’s a non-stop barrage of punk rock mayhem spanning nearly five decades of righteous noise — and it’s available to pre-order now.
Obviously 33 tracks can only scratch the surface of a catalog this deep, but consider it the perfect entry point for the uninitiated and a killer highlight reel for the lifers. From early hardcore bruisers to politically charged anthems, ‘Take on the Tyrants’ covers a lot of ground.
Something Better Change — The Documentary
In related news, the documentary film Something Better Change — directed by Scott Crawford — debuted online this week (April 7). The film digs into frontman Joe Keithley‘s life beyond the stage: his decades of activism and his remarkable journey into elected political office. It’s available to rent on Prime Video and other services. Absolutely worth your time.
