Brooklyn’s Dead Stars has announced a new LP, ‘Perfect Patterns,’ which is due out on September 1st. Currently available for pre-order on Bandcamp, it comes as a follow up to last year’s ‘Bright Colors,’ which featured plenty of crunchy guitars, infectious pop melodies, and ’90s nostalgia.
While ‘Perfect Patterns’ still finds the band embracing their affinity for the fuzzed-out slacker vibes of Dinosaur Jr. and the pop sensibilities of Weezer, it takes a turn towards more aggressive guitars, minimalist song structure, and stripped-down arrangements. Lead single Pink Clouds is a perfect example: one of the most explosive, high-energy tracks on the album, it’s built around a simple guitar riff and clocks in at under three minutes. You can stream the track via Soundcloud below & grab a free download with all Bandcamp pre-orders.
Exploring themes of materialism, addiction, and getting older, Dead Stars’ third LP is their most honest and intimate release to date. Written during a time when everything around the band seemed to be changing at warp speed, they focused on the one thing that hadn’t changed: their common love of playing loud, energetic indie rock. If anything, they’ve become more comfortable saying what they want to say, which comes through lyrically on the new album.
