Brooklyn’s Dead Stars will release their new LP, ‘Perfect Patterns,’ on September 1st. A follow-up to last year’s ‘Bright Colors’ and 2014’s ‘Slumber,’ it still features the crunchy, fuzzed-out guitars and catchy pop hooks that have earned the band comparisons to Dinosaur Jr., Weezer, and Teenage Fanclub, but finds them experimenting with a more minimalist song structure and stripped-down arrangements.
The band has been known to pair catchy, upbeat melodies with dark, often self-depricating lyrics, and new single Happy Or Sad is no exception. Jangly guitars and an anthemic, punk-infused chorus make Happy Or Sad one of the more explosive tracks on the new album, but thematically, it addresses the demons we all face when left alone with our thoughts.
