Baxter Dury shares ‘Return of the Sharp Heads’: A slick, subconscious jab at East London cool

Baxter Dury is back in full sardonic swing with Return of the Sharp Heads, the second single from his upcoming album ‘Allbarone,’ out September 12 via Heavenly Recordings. Produced by the always-in-demand Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine), the track also features a slick vocal appearance from JGrrey.

In true Baxter fashion, the song’s part character study, part social satire, and entirely offbeat. “Sharp Heads is an abstract subconscious rant, criticizing anyone that is from Shoreditch or thereabouts, as I talk from my ivory tower in west London,” Baxter says. “It doesn’t always make sense but it makes sense to me.” A little absurd, a little smug, and totally magnetic — just the way we like it.

With its woozy grooves, deadpan delivery, and cryptic commentary, Return of the Sharp Heads feels like another confident stride into Baxter’s surrealist, sharply tailored world. If the rest of Allbarone is anything like this, we’re in for a real trip.
