Skinny Dog Records have announced the release of St Anthony: An Ode To Anthony H Wilson, a tribute to Factory Records legend Tony Wilson. There is no need to go into detail about Wilson’s influence on music, but he nurtured and formed some of my all time favourite bands. It’s fitting that he is honoured through music and poetry. The single is out now and features a remix by Andrew Weatherall. Watch the video, made by graphic design students from Salford University, using footage from the original video made by Soup Collective, for Andrew’s remix via YouTube below.

The original video (youtube.com/watch?v=3cYNI8s_vo4 ) is testament to the love and respect for Wilson that continues after his death. It features close friends and collaborators of Wilson’s each reciting lines from the poem, including Bernard, Gillian and Stephen from New Order, Christopher Eccleston, Iggy Pop, Peter Saville to name but a few. The website at saint-anthony.co.uk is designed by Retro Fuzz and allows you to explore the places, people and stories which make up the lyrics – helping to see the full picture of Wilson’s impact. Playing on the poem’s repeated refrain of ‘Talk to me of…’ the website allows you to send messages from your mobile phone direct into the site to join the conversation.
