After releasing their album ‘Big Black Coat’ via City Slang earlier this month, Junior Boys have now shared a remix of its title track by Robert Hood. They have also released a video for the original track, directed by Tim Saccenti. Watch the video, listen to the remix, and check out their US tour dates below.
Speaking on the concept for the video, Saccenti says, “It evolved from mine and the band’s mutual love for early analog video and experimental film art, industrial techno, and the audio/visual performances of seminal DIY electronic band The Severed Heads. Following the beauty and driving movement of the track, I wanted to create a piece of emotional innocence to run through the grinder of distortion.”
Approaching the track with his staple minimalist techno touch, Robert Hood stretches out the original by almost two minutes, carefully deconstructing the original material and rebuilding it as an essential industrial club anthem. The remix will also be available soon as a limited 12” via Jialong, the label run by Dan Snaith from Caribou/Daphni.
Junior Boys are currently touring the EU with Jessy Lanza, whose new single It Means I Love You was produced by Greenspan. They begin their North American tour on March 10. ‘Big Black Coat’ can be purchased now from Bandcamp or iTunes.
